Comment:
Entamoeba hartmanni cyst 5 - 10 microns with 4 nuclei with a small compact central karyosome. Trichrome stain. This is a harmless commensal which differs both in size and in isoenzyme pattern to any of the 4 groups of E.histolytica. It is morphologically similar but chromatoidal bars are more often present in the cysts in E.dispar, are smaller and more numerous and the trophozoites never contain red cells.
